Danny Salazar’s Modern Record Shows Why He’s Special

On Thursday night, Danny Salazar did something that hadn’t been done in the modern era of baseball, 1900-present. Salazar accomplished the feat of striking out 10 Chicago White Sox in just 3.2 innings of work. Out of the 11 outs he recorded during his start, 10 of them came via the strikeout. Unfortunately, because the White Sox were able to put together a few rallies and put runs on the board, Salazar threw 93 pitches in the period of time, couldn’t last long, and ended up taking the loss.

Regardless of the outcome, Danny Salazar’s modern record accomplishment was something truly special and a sign of things to come for the young right hander. Many prognosticators felt that Salazar would be one of the breakout pitchers in 2014. Thursday’s start was just one pivotal step in proving all of the right.
