Nick Swisher and David Murphy Leave Game With Injury

More from Cleveland Guardians Prospects

First David Murphy departed Saturday’s game with the New York Yankees with an injury to his side – the extent which won’t be known until an MRI tomorrow.  ‘“It grabbed at me a little bit more, my right side, than it has been,” Murphy told writers after the game. “I don’t feel like it blew out, but I feel like it got to the point where it was close enough to where I didn’t want to test it any more.”

Nick Swisher exited in the seventh inning as his sore right knee flared up again. After the game manager Terry Francona said, “We’re going to have to figure some things out here.”

Two names you will not find in the Indians Triple-A affiliate Columbus Clippers lineup tonight are Tyler Holt and the newly acquired Zach Walters.

@IndiansAccounts (Todd Paquette – give him a follow for all things related to the Indians) tweeted a short while ago:

It is unknown it either player will be added but the likelihood of at least one being active in time for tomorrow’s series finale with the Yankees is high.

Tyler Holt has been up and down with the Indians several times this year. In 96 games split between the Indians Double-A affiliate Akron RubberDucks and the Columbus Clippers he’s hit .309/.419/.384.

Zach Walters was acquired on July 31st from the Washington Nationals for shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera.  He had appeared in 32 games for the Nationals this season batting just .205 (8 for 39).

In 67 games split between the Nationals Triple-A affiliate Syracuse Chiefs (60 games) and the Clippers (7 games) he has posted a triple slash line of .310/.361/.619 with 17 home runs in 292 plate appearances.
