Pregame Notes: Cleveland Indians try to rebound in Cy Young match-up

Corey Kluber and David Price face off as Cleveland Indians take on the Tigers

Following three consecutive quality starts by Cleveland Indians’ pitchers, the Tribe saw their first bad outing of the season thrown by Zach McAllister, who labored through four innings while surrendering 13 hits and five earned runs.

Reigning Cy Young winner Corey Kluber will be on the hill for the Tribe this afternoon against 2012 Cy Young winner David Price.

Kluber is coming off a 7.1 inning-two run performance on Opening Day against the Houston Astros. Despite the strong outing, Kluber received zero runs of support and took the hard-luck loss against a quality left-handed starter. Price will look to repeat his Opening Day performance and force Kluber to relive his Opening Day storyline.

Here are the starting lineups:

A handful of changes to today’s lineup, as Mike Aviles will play left field and Jerry Sands plays right field. Michael Brantley and Brandon Moss both get the day off as manager Terry Francona tries to get a couple more right-handed bats in the lineup.

Hot-hitting Jose Iglesias gets the day off, as Andrew Romine makes his first start of the season.

News & Notes:

–According to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com, Michael Brantley (back) had a minor setback late in Friday’s game. Francona acknowledged he probably should have sat him another day, but the Tribe’s 2014 MVP could be out a couple games.  -Francona did his best to load the Indians’ lineup with right-handed hitters by inserting both Aviles and Sands into the lineup. As a result, Moss gets his first day off after going 1-for-14 in the first four games. Francona was happy Moss was able to notch his first hit on Friday:

–According to Tom Withers of the Associated Press, Gaylord Perry told Corey Kluber to “getcha another one” when he presented the Indians’ ace with his Cy Young plaque on Friday.
