The Cleveland Indians haven’t necessarily established themselves as a buyer, but they aren’t out of the race either. So what possibilities are out there that could be viable? Our Cody Norman looks at some of the potential low-key options the team could pursue to give them a better chance in the second half.

Jason Kipnis has been a one-man highlight reel for the Indians, and after a tough 2014 he appears to be on the edge of becoming a full-blown star. He’s made adjustments to his swing, giving up on power to put the ball in play, and the results speak for themselves. As the lone representative for the Indians in this year’s All-Star Game, Kipnis has made his case as the team’s best, but has it been good enough to be considered the AL’s first half MVP?

While it may be a stretch to include him with the likes of the Angels’ Mike Trout, Kipnis has indeed put his stamp on the first half. The low power numbers are one thing that stands out, but when you start looking at his WAR compared to the team, most valuable becomes very relevant.
