Cleveland Indians Roundup: Series Preview; Historical Commemoration
Our own Matt Bretz previewed the new series between the Cleveland Indians and the New York Mets. The Indians entered the series with a 4-3 record; the Mets, with a 3-5 record. Cody Anderson opened the series for the Tribe in a return home for Bartolo Colon, who pitched for the Indians over ten years ago before the famous trade that sent him to the Expos.
As for the rest of the series, Josh Tomlin will take the hill tonight against Matt Harvey, and tomorrow’s match will feature Corey Kluber and Steven Matz. All in all, this series will be critical for the Indians. Anderson and Tomlin need to pitch well and prove their spots in the starting rotation. A lurking Trevor Bauer in the bullpen means that Cody Anderson needs to find a way to strikeout batters without allowing five runs.

In other news, Michael Brantley is upbeat about his rehab assignment, writes Elton Alexander of The Plain Dealer. The outfield reports that his shoulder is feeling well so far, which seems quite fantastic considering the terrible weather through which he has played. Brantley currently is rehabbing with the Double-A Akron Rubber Ducks.
Finally, the Cleveland Indians honored several baseball heroes at their recent games, as detailed by MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian. A few players wore special black-and-white cleats with an image of Jackie Robinson on them. Furthermore, the Indians played a video commemorating Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby before the game yesterday. Both players served a much-needed role in starting the integration of baseball way back in 1947.
