The Cleveland Indians beat the Boston Red Sox to take a 2-0 lead in the ALCS thanks to a dominant performance from Corey Kluber.

So this Corey Kluber guy is pretty good.

The Cleveland Indians are just one win away from heading to the ALCS after a 6-0 win over the Boston Red Sox on a beautiful Friday in Cleveland.

The Red Sox pinned their hopes on the $30 million man, David Price, but Kluber was the only ace on the field Friday. While Price lasted all of 3 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits, Kluber made it through seven, allowing zero runs on three hits.

Kluber was being relied upon to go deep into the game after Andrew Miller and Cody Allen each threw 40 pitches in Thursday’s Game 1, and the ace did just that. He looked confident early, which was easy after he was given a 4-0 lead in the second inning.

After Brandon Guyer singled to put the Indians up 1-0, Lonnie Chisenhall came up and hit a line drive over the right field wall, giving the Indians a 4-0 lead with just one out in the bottom of the second inning. Who said Lonnie can’t hit lefties?

The Indians added one run in the fourth inning and another in the sixth, but the early 4-0 lead gave Kluber plenty of room to work with, not that he needed it.

While the Red Sox are coming to terms with the unpredictability of pitching in the playoffs, the Indians seem to be unaffected. The bullpen held on to a lead in Game 1, and Kluber did his job in Game 2. This should not be too much of a surprise for Indians fans after watching this team all season, but it is rather surprising just because of the nature of playoff baseball. But no one is complaining about the dominance so far.

The win gives the Indians three chances to pick up a win and advance to the ALCS, but it will be tougher to do so in Boston in front of a crowd used to amazing comebacks. The Red Sox are filled with a new-look roster compared to those miracle teams of the past, but the comeback mentality is an inherent part of being a member of that franchise.

For now, fans will get to enjoy this win and let it begin the weekend on a great note. On a day when LeBron James opened the game’s festivities, how could it turn out any other way?
