The Cleveland Indians lost yet another series in April as the Detroit Tigers came to Cleveland and won two games over the weekend.

The Cleveland Indians continued to struggle over the holiday weekend, dropping two of three to the Detroit Tigers. I was in attendance for Saturday’s win, so I will take credit for that one.

A 5-7 record is disappointing for Indians fans but not something to panic about. The team is going through the April struggles that seem to pop up every year. From shaky starting pitching to inconsistent offense, the team is just getting used to the regular season. Or so we keep telling ourselves.

The best stretch of the series came from the bottom of the ninth inning on Friday to the end of Saturday’s game, when the Indians scored a combined 18 runs.

That ended on Sunday when the offense managed to score a single run, finishing off a 2-4 homestand filled with both excitement and despair.

The Indians now head to Minnesota in search of a rare, all-around complete game from both the pitching and the offense. Danny Salazar should give the team a great chance on the defensive side tonight, but the bats must wake up.

While the team has struggled, there are some bright spots on offense. Some of the youngest players on the team continue to lead the way, helping to support the entire group while the veterans figure things out.

Let’s look at that and more in the takeaways from the series defeat against the Tigers.
