MLB players will be sporting nicknames on the backs of their jerseys for the the 2017 Players Weekend, and the Cleveland Indians have some fun ones.

The 2017 World Baseball Classic gave fans a sense of how much fun players can have while playing the game of baseball.

Ian Kinsler refused to accept others should smile while playing baseball, but most others were excited to see so much energy from a game being associated with being so old-fashioned.

MLB decided to add some fun to the game this year, for one weekend, by allowing players to choose nicknames to have on the backs of their jerseys for one weekend. The inaugural Players Weekend will take place August 25-27.

This is clearly a fun concept that will allow the players to flash some of their personalities for one weekend.

As with anything fun, there are always detractors, mostly on social media, who will say this is gimmicky and taking away from the game. These people remain the worst.

Having nicknames on the backs of the jerseys will have zero negative effects on the games being played, and if anything will give fans a chance to have a smile when Francisco Lindor, aka “Mr. Smile,” takes the field in his custom jersey.

It is amazing to see the negativity that comes out with something so fun and harmless like these jerseys. How could Andrew Miller wearing a “Miller Time” jersey be anything but awesome? And how could Jose Ramirez deciding on “Ramirez” for the fun weekend be anything but hilarious?

So if you’re like me and find these jerseys to be something fun for players to wear for one weekend, you can always combat any negativity by simply flashing a smile and saying you are doing it in honor of Mr. Smile himself.
