Lonnie Chisenhall remains on a rehab assignment with the Columbus Clippers, and he appears ready to come back to Cleveland.

The Cleveland Indians have been doing so well on this current road trip it is hard to fathom that all this success has come without two of the best offensive players on the team.

The Indians continue to pull away in the division without Michael Brantley and Lonnie Chisenhall. There is no exact timetable on Brantley’s return, but Chisenhall has been down with the Columbus Clippers rehabbing, and had himself a nice Saturday night.

Chisenhall started the game and played left field, which is likely a sign of things to come now that Jay Bruce is on the team.

So there you have it, while the Indians were busy defeating the Royals, Chisenhall was out putting on a show for the fans in Columbus.

As a side note, if you want to feel like the Clippers could be a bad MLB team here is a look at the lineup.

Back to Chisenhall, the most important thing about these rehab outings is that he gets through them without feeling any pain in his calf, and another nice game from him seems to prove he is ready to return.

His wife is due with their child early next week, so next weekend could be a perfect time for him to return as the Indians will once again be taking on the Kansas City Royals. No better way to finish off the Royals’ hopes of winning the division than by having Chisenhall return and mash a few home runs.

Next in line is Brantley, but with the addition of Bruce this outfield, and the lineup as a whole, is stacked heading into September.

And with the rosters about to expand at the beginning of September, building up a nice division lead in August can help players like Chisenhall get some much-needed rest to prepare for some more October baseball at Progressive Field.
