Cleveland Indians ace Corey Kluber takes the mound after an injury scare this past weekend, at a time when the team can’t afford any more injuries.

When the sky seems to be falling for the Cleveland Indians, it is up to Corey Kluber to save us.

The Cleveland Indians sent Jason Kipnis to the disabled list earlier today, continuing the nonstop injury train that has taken over this roster in the past month. But after last year, no one should be counting the Indians out.

I wrote an article a few weeks back after the Indians experienced their rough walk-off loss in Boston, in what was considered the best game of the MLB season.

The next game came at home against the New York Yankees, pitting Kluber against Sonny Gray. The Indians needed some confidence back, and Kluber helped provide it.

More from Away Back Gone

Kluber went nine innings back on August 3, striking out 11 in a 5-1 win for the Indians. It helped get the team back on track and allowed fans to simmer down.

He needs to do this again, well at least pick up a win, to help everyone calm down after seeing so many injuries as of late. He also needs to do well to hold off the Minnesota Twins, who are just 4.5 games back of the Indians heading into tonight.

It is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day happenings during an MLB season and overreact to the bad. But Indians fans must realize even with these injuries, the team is in great shape.

The Indians are only 6.5 games back of the Houston Astros for the top spot in the American League, and 2.5 games back of the Red Sox for the second spot with two more games against Boston this week.

Things may not be ideal, but as long as Corey Kluber is available every five days, the team is in great shape. That is, if the offense can move past Tuesday’s one-hit performance.
