The Cleveland Indians fell short of the ultimate goal in 2017, but our staff shared why they are thankful for this team heading into 2018.

The Cleveland Indians will kick off play in Goodyear, Arizona in exactly three months. Are you excited?

But in the meantime, there is plenty of others things to focus on including today’s Thanksgiving holiday. It is a time for turkey and football, but more importantly it is a time to spend with family and to reflect on what you are thankful for.

Our staff got together to share what we are thankful for when it comes to the Indians heading into 2018. After reading our takes, be sure to share yours in the comments section below.

Dan Zerby: I’m thankful that we get one more year of Dr. Smooth, and that he gets one more opportunity to show Cleveland why he’s here.

Brandon Kring: I’m thankful that the Indians front office is going for broke in this championship window. It is nice to see them try to win one when they recognize there is a chance.

Chris O’Reilly: I’m thankful for the camera angle that shows Carlos Santana sprinting out to jump on Yan Gomes after his walk-off hit in Game 2 of the ALDS, before Austin Jackson even crosses the plate. That is what baseball is all about.

Carson Ferrell: I’m Thankful the Indians are an exciting team to watch. It makes all 162 games fun. As opposed to suffering through my horrible football team for just 16 games.

Matt Bretz: I’m thankful for the Dolan family. They may not be flashy owners, but damn do they love Cleveland and the Indians. Watching Haslam and Gilbert bungle their way as owners with the Browns and Cavs gives me a true an appreciation to the best owners in Cleveland. The Dolans will never get their fair due, but I will forever be thankful.

Monica Kurjan: I’m thankful to have a local team as exciting as the Indians to watch during the season and I’m thankful that I’ve been lucky enough to get to watch that team excel in the postseason the past two seasons.

Jake Burns: I’m thankful the Indians bring a level of normalcy and competency to a city that is desperate for a high functioning franchise. It’s great to know that when spring rolls around I can count on watching a winner again.

Steven Kubitza: I’m thankful for a team that truly cares about the fans and the city of Cleveland. There is nothing better than Francisco Lindor hitting a home run and flashing a smile toward the crowd, jumping up and down once he crosses home plate and getting the crowd fired up. I just got goosebumps typing that.
