The Cleveland Indians will enter the 2018 season as one of the best teams in baseball, which means another year in the national spotlight and in primetime.

2018 is a week away, meaning Cleveland Indians fans can begin looking ahead to another exciting year of Indians baseball.

The season starts at the end of March this year, so at least the wait is a bit shorter than normal.

Fans got to see the Indians in primetime in 2017, and the same will be true this year as the Indians are back on Sunday Night Baseball in 2018. The Indians will take on the Houston Astros on May 20 in front of a national audience.

More from Away Back Gone

It will be a nice spotlight for an Indians team hopefully off to a hot start and looking to take down the defending champions.

Because it is on ESPN, fans should be prepared for the usual lame montages of Cleveland sports struggles dating back to the Indians’ last title in 1948.

Expect to see some 0-16 parade footage in there this time around.

But a new season brings new hope and an Indians win over the Astros on national television would be a nice win early on to show that the Indians are once again a top team in the American League.

Next: What fans can look forward to in 2018

It is easy to have high expectations once again, but this game on May 20 should provide fans with an early glimpse of where the team stands in 2018. The game itself is just one of 162, but a slow start by the Indians could have the front office panicking and looking to make some big moves.
