The Cleveland Indians have had a slow offseason, but the rumor mill continues to churn as a lot of players remain on the open market.

Thursday was another slow day for the Cleveland Indians, but the same cannot be said for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers are clearly trying to win it all in 2018 after acquiring both Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain in a matter of hours on Thursday night.

These additions may mean the Brewers are trying to move some players, so start-up the rumor mill.

Tweets like this don’t mean a trade is imminent, but other teams needing to clear space could benefit the Indians. Instead of paying $80 million for a player like Cain, the Indians can secure cheaper and shorter-term deals that don’t prevent the team from pursuing a long-term extension for Francisco Lindor.

It is easy to see other teams make moves and think the Indians are falling behind by standing pat, but I’ve stated many times this offseason how the Indians may already be good enough to return to the postseason. Once there, it’s about playing consistent baseball and not collapsing.

If any move is to be made, the Indians may want to grab a reliever to add to a bullpen that is still without a definitive group for the season. There is currently a lot of potential in the group, but adding some experience wouldn’t hurt either.

Are things actually heating up?

The Brewers made some franchise-altering moves just a few weeks out from Spring Training, so perhaps other teams will follow suit.

I’m content with the group in town, but the Indians front office may have some plans they have been sitting on for months, solely for the purpose of giving fans ulcers.
