Cleveland Indians: Discussing win projections in February
The Cleveland Indians don’t play a meaningful game until the end of March, but some fans are already talking about final win projections for the season.
How many games will the Cleveland Indians win in 2018?
It’s a simple question that will bring up a variety of responses, especially after the Indians won 102 games a season ago.
There are several services that provide projections and FanSided shared the results from CG Technology.
Baseball is a weird sport where 102 wins are flashy, but 90 wins may be enough to easily lock up the division. So the 93.5 projection is fair, and should be plenty to earn the Indians another AL Central title.
Few projections will ever give a team over 100 wins and last year’s finish, aided by the 22-game win streak, was well above average.

I always enjoy seeing the responses to these projections. Some Indians fans will claim that this number is too low. But I have good news. If you are into betting, the number being too low is a good thing. (Books a flight to Vegas to take the over.)
If you don’t plan on placing any bets, these projections are rather meaningless. What they do show is that the Indians are favorites to return to the postseason once again, and we already know that.
Any other result could result in some jobs being lost.
But let’s save the talk of doom for another time hopefully far down the road.
The fact we can see 93.5 wins as a potentially low estimate means Indians fans are poised for another great season of baseball. And even if the Indians finish with 93 wins or less, all that matters is getting to October.
