The Cleveland Indians officially begin Spring Training this week, ending what has been an unusually slow and quiet offseason.

The sun is out in Cleveland and while it may be cold, that baseball fever should be hitting the city this week.

The Cleveland Indians officially open camp this week out in Goodyear, Arizona, starting with the pitchers and catchers reporting on Wednesday. It ends what has been a rather slow offseason filled with more frustration than excitement.

Losing players like Carlos Santana and Jay Bruce is never fun. However, the Indians entered the offseason with enough talent to where the losses don’t change the outlook for the 2018 season.

Winter is always a time where the critics come out and any move made or not made is broken down to a microscopic level. The return of actual baseball will help the focus go back to the game itself, at least until the team faces any adversity and the criticism begins again.

Today marks the final Monday without the team at least practicing, so the wait is almost over. Seeing the likes of Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez back on a baseball field will be a refreshing sight.

I would say it will help break up the monotony of the Cavaliers’ season, but that has seemed to change too. Maybe they’re also excited about the start of Spring Training.

If Indians players were in the Olympics

Everyone is excited

Baseball is such a magical game. I don’t see people get this excited for NFL training camps.

More Goodyear hype

I’m going to make a simple projection and say Jose will be in the MVP conversation once again. Anyone disagree?
