As Opening Day is one day away, I wrote this poem as an ode to all of those Cleveland Indians fans that find it hard to sleep with this holiday right around the corner.

‘Twas the night before Opening Day

And what else is there to say

2018 is the Indians year,

They must not delay.

At Progressive Field, not a sound can be heard,

We’ve waited all winter,

To see Jose at third.

Yonder is at first, he’s the new guy,

Edwin will help him fit in,

And show him how his Parrot can fly.

Miller and Allen will soon be shutting teams down.

Dr. Smooth is stronger than ever,

he’ll be hitting balls all around town.

A 3rd Cy Young is in Kluber’s sight,

Just face it, you’re going to strikeout,

Don’t put up a fight.

Cookie is ready to have some more fun.

Zimmer ain’t no rookie anymore,

And man, that dude can run!

Kipnis is ready to show this is his bounce back year,

With Gomes and Perez behind the dish,

No one will run out of fear.

Frankie is ready to make his run for MVP,

Hopefully they don’t trade Lonnie,

He means a lot to me.

Clev and Tomlin are ready to take this team higher,

Bauer might be a little crazy,

But he throws straight fire.

In 2018, it should be World Series or bust,

But no matter what happens, just remember,

#InTitoWeTrust.

This is the day we have all been waiting for. While last year was fun at times, the fact remained that it ended in a loss. Opening Day is a very special day to not just Indians fans but baseball fans all across the nation. On March 29th, take a seat and get ready for a day filled with America’s pastime. At 10 pm, we finally kick off the Cleveland Indians 2018 season and I have a feeling this is going to be very special year for Tribe fans.
