The Cleveland Indians are on a bit of a hot streak and are currently ranked in the top 10 of ESPN’s latest MLB power rankings.

The Cleveland Indians have won three straight, thanks to the lowly Baltimore Orioles, and are sitting atop the AL Central just as expected.

Even with all the offensive struggles the Indians should easily take the division. And based on how baseball works, and life for that matter, the offense should get back to normal levels of production soon.

The solid week from the Indians has the team currently sitting at No. 7 overall in the latest edition of ESPN’s MLB power rankings. The Boston Red Sox hold the top spot after a red-hot start to the season.

The main story through the first 20 games of the season is the dominance of the pitching staff contrasted with the painful start for the offense. Sustaining this level of pitching is unlikely, but as long as the team keeps winning we can’t get too mad. It is hard to imagine the entire offense slumping this bad for the next five months.

Maybe it is just wishful thinking. Or perhaps ignoring the impending doom. But this Indians team is still considered among the best in baseball.

20 games is far too small a sample size to apply to what the team will do in the entire season. Factors like the weather, several postponed games and a normal slow start in April all play into where the team is right now.

It would be fair to worry if the Indians got off to a losing start, or were near the bottom of the division. Since that isn’t the case, things are fine. For now.

I hate to be that guy who goes “just relax,” but here I am saying just that. Oh well. I’ll drop that feeling if the team dips below .500, but I don’t see that happening. For that to happen the weather would have to be nice enough for the team to ever play more than a few games in a row.
