Cleveland Indians outfielder Tyler Naquin is headed to the disabled list in the midst of a great start to his 2018 season.

The injuries continue to strike as the Cleveland Indians are sending yet another player to the disabled list right after Andrew Miller returned from his stint on the DL.

Tyler Naquin is headed to the 10-day DL after a great start to the season.

Naquin is currently batting .333 on the year, which would be the best on the team if he was a qualified hitter. His entire slash line of .333/.367/.453 is impressive as well.

This great start comes after the outfielder only appeared in 19 games for the Indians in 2017 after an impressive rookie season in 2016. Some fans had already given up on him, but Naquin kept working hard and waiting for another opportunity.

Lonnie Chisenhall spending time on the DL this year opened a spot for Naquin. Even when Chisenhall returns, Naquin has an argument to keep his spot over a player like Rajai Davis or even Brandon Guyer. But with the way injuries go, we’ll have to wait and see if any cuts even need to be made before the rosters expand in September.

Hopefully this situation doesn’t turn into one similar to what we have seen with Chisenhall. Leg injuries have the ability to cause long-term problems, but let’s hope this move is a precautionary one to protect a player who is in the team’s plans for this year.

This injury will give Greg Allen a chance to prove that he too deserves a spot on this team. With the way things have gone so far, there is nothing wrong with a little competition to determine who the best options are at every position.
