Cleveland Indians: Jose Ramirez deservedly dominating in All-Star voting

Cleveland Indians fans know that Jose Ramirez is a rising star and his abilities are being recognized in the All-Star Game voting.

Jose Ramirez may be playing on one of the most team-friendly deals in all of baseball. That’s good news for the Cleveland Indians.

The young Ramirez has become a fan favorite since his breakout season in 2016 and is now getting some attention from fans all over.

The latest American League All-Star Game voting update came out earlier this week and it wasn’t even close at third base. Ramirez had 893,530 votes, while Miguel Andujar was next with 509, 188.

The Indians do a great job of reminding fans to vote with some hilarious social media posts, but Ramirez isn’t just getting votes from home. He started in the All-Star Game last year and has put himself up there with the likes of Mookie Betts and Mike Trout as a top player in not only the AL, but in all of baseball.

Among qualified hitters on the Indians, Ramirez leads the team in home runs, RBIs, on-base percentage and slugging percentage. He is also just one home run behind Mike Trout for the league lead. Not too bad from the team’s third baseman.

The Indians have several worthy All-Stars on the roster this year but Ramirez may be the only one who earns a starting nod. For all the talk of giving Francisco Lindor a lifetime deal, Ramirez is perhaps the one who the team should focus on retaining until he decides to retire.

The crazy thing is that this is only Ramirez’s third full season with the Indians. Just wait until he actually hits the peak of his prime. The Indians may be getting 50 home runs out of a third baseman who also walks more than he strikes out. It is nearly unheard of but Ramirez is the type of player who doesn’t seem to care about what anyone else thinks. He is just here to dominate.
