The Cleveland Indians have several players on the IL and there is both good and bad news surrounding the latest rehab assignments.

The Cleveland Indians are currently taking on the New York Mets.

Elsewhere, the rehab assignments continue on.

Corey Kluber is the main player fans are concerned about. He had his rehab outing on Sunday when he lasted only one inning before leaving the game. That did not appear to be a good sign and news from earlier today confirmed that.

So he is being re-examined in two weeks. With this team’s history of reporting injuries that means we won’t get any sort of firm update until then. Which will be into September.

This is not good news but as I have written before, it’s not like the team is desperately awaiting his return. If he is not at full health then it would be a detriment to the team to put him back on the mound. 2019 is not like past years where the rotation needed him out there to carry the load.

We shall wait patiently for updates on Kluber. Meanwhile, there are other players fighting to return to Cleveland. Several are in Akron, where it is storming at the time of writing this post.

We all know about Carlos Carrasco‘s exciting return to the mound on Monday. He is set to pitch again Thursday, while Bradley Zimmer is supposed to play tonight. I’m not sure if that will happen based on how the sky looks in Akron right now.

I live close to the stadium and the thunder is not a positive sign.

The weather may prevent another player from making a quick return tonight as well.

So at some point both Jefry Rodriguez and Zimmer will get in some game action for Akron. I’m not sure if either have a role with the team this October but both should make some appearances in September.

Kluber’s status will continue to dominate the injury list headlines. But while he remains questionable, others will be returning soon.
